Advertising Account Analyst

Account Analyst at Conversant

(owned by Alliance Data)

As an Account Analyst for a digital advertising company, I analyze consumer insights and “big data” to provide a data-centric messaging strategy that allows international brands to speak to their target customers. I work with both internal and client marketing teams to plan campaigns that address a client's key messaging objectives and speak to their target customers in a 1:1, personalized manner in the digital realm.

In order to help our clients form a data-driven messaging strategy, our internal team, consisting of account managers, account planners, client development, media managers, and analytics works together to develop strategy, ensure media is delivered in a targeted manner, and evaluate messaging performance.

As an analyst, I also work with "big data."  My SQL coding skills allow me to mine large datasets and analyze client performance to provide return on ad spend, site visitation, and purchase metrics.  In this role, I have worked with large, international brands across a variety of markets, including the following: sports retail, office supplies, business to business, and consumer retail.

This print advertisement promoted a fundraising event for the campus radio station, 90.7 The Capstone.

This print advertisement was a component of a campaign that promoted the release of a downloadable, mobile application.

University of Alabama Office of Student Media

Beginning in August 2012, I served as the marketing director for the University of Alabama Office of Student Media.  My responsibilities involved the marketing of several different student publications, including The Crimson White (newspaper), The Corolla ( yearbook), The Marrs Field Journal (literary journal), and 90.7 The Capstone/WVUA FM (radio station).

In addition to working with students who were associated with each publication outlet on a variety of campaigns, I also managed a specific team of Marketing interns.  The marketing intern team included five undergraduate students from various communication/marketing majors.

This experience allowed me to teach students how to appropriately manage campaigns in a real-world environment with actual clients.  Students were able to gain valuable experience that would help them obtain career opportunities upon graduation.

Sports

While at the USOTC,  we were taken to the top of Pike's Peak.  It was certainly an interesting experience to be at that high of an altitude.

We also had the opportunity to visit the US Air Force Academy.  In this picture, we are standing in front of the chapel that is located on campus.

U.S. Olympic Training Center

In May 2012 I traveled to Colorado Springs, Colorado to work at the U.S. Olympic Training Center with several students from the University of Alabama Sports Management Master's program.  The training center staff tasked us with the job of evaluating the training facilities, athlete outreach, internal communication, and community outreach programs that the training center possessed.  We presented our findings to training center officials, and many of our recommendations have been implemented.  By completing my cognate in sports management, I was able to introduce real-world sports experiences that only helped to improve my research in the sports realm.

Consulting

In February 2009, I became the Public Relations Consultant for a small furniture store in Clanton, Ala.  My first job was to help "revamp" the branding identity of this family furniture business that has been in Clanton for over 50 years.  I began by creating a new logo.  I presented them with a traditional and a modern design.  They chose to use the traditional design (the first logo shown below).  This logo was featured on the outside of the store and featured in advertisements.

Politics

Marketing Director

I began my collegiate career as a political science major interested in political communication.  In order to gain experience, I interned for Alabama Governor Bob Riley in 2008.

I worked in Gov. Riley's Appointments office, which aids the governor in his job to appoint qualified people to various leadership positions within the State of Alabama.  The Appointments office works with the state legislature to ensure that the representatives have all necessary information needed for the approval of any appointments.

My time working for Governor Riley certainly furthered my interest in political communication, as my internship coincided with a special session of the Alabama State Legislature that required much additional work from the Appointment's office.
